Latest FHSAA rankings

The Florida High School Athletic Association released its latest girls lacrosse rankings that will determine playoff seedings and some postseason berths. The district winners in each region automatically qualify for the playoffs and secure a home playoff game in the region quarterfinals as long as they are playing a team with an at-large berth. The four at-large postseason berths in each region are determined strictly by the rankings. Here is the list of the top eight in regions that include area teams. Local ranked teams are in bold.

What to watch tonight

The Panthers, ranked third in the class, fifth overall in the state and tenth nationally by MaxPreps, have won each of their matchups against area opponents by 13 or more goals. The host Warriors are trying to build some momentum from a win over Alonso before spring break started.

Cypress Creek (9-2) at Academy of the Holy Names (7-2), 6

The host Jaguars are on a four-game win streak that includes impressive victories over St. Petersburg Catholic and Tampa Catholic last week. The Coyotes’ two losses this are to IMG Blue and Bradenton Saint Stephen’s, which are a combined 14-2 this season.
