Outlook

The Wildcats, who won consecutive state titles in 2018-19, are aiming for their third championship, which would put them in a tie with Palm Harbor University with the second-most ever among area programs. To do that, Academy at the Lakes has a difficult first step with a semifinal matchup against the Sentinels, who are ranked first in the class and 18th overall in the state by MaxPreps. Evangelical Christian has been dominant in regional play, winning its three games by a combined 45-1. But the Wildcats have fared well against tough opponents, as evidenced by their 6-2 region final win over Cornerstone Christian, which was ranked third in the class and had the top seed in the region. Shannon Kendall threw a five-hitter, allowing two unearned runs while striking out 13, on the mound and drove in two runs at the plate. Other offensive leaders included Kiana Wright, who had a double and two RBIs, and Adelaide Aliano, who finished with two hits.
