Lakeland always is considered a state powerhouse. But the Dreadnaughts might be national contenders, too, especially in an offseason where nine prominent players have transferred in from other schools.
The latest addition might be the biggest yet.
Cormani McClain, a five-star defensive back, left Lake Gibson to join Lakeland. It was the third transfer the Dreadnaughts picked from this past weekend.
Lakeland now is Class 4A of the Suburban Division and will likely be the favorite to win a state title.
