QB Hunter Young, Sr., Hudson

A three-year starter, Hunter Young is having the best season of his high school career. 

The senior has thrown for 17 touchdowns — four more than in his previous two seasons combined. And he has 1,277 passing yards — 27 shy of equaling his combined total from his sophomore and junior years. 

Better still, he has reached those numbers in just five games. 

Last week. Young completed 11 of his 18 passes for 318 yards and six touchdowns. He also ran for 21 yards and a score to lead the Cobras to a 54-22 win over Cypress Creek to remain undefeated (5-0). 

Fans took notice. Young had 44 percent of the votes (522) in the football player of the week poll to beat out Mitchell’s Tyler Geary, who had 19 percent (230).
