Volleyball: Pasco County Super Seven

1. Bishop McLaughlin (17-7)

Up next: Idle

Last spot: No. 1

Why they stayed put: The Hurricanes split their two matches last week, losing 3-1 to Calvary Christian and sweeping Carrollwood Day to end their regular season schedule. Bishop McLaughlin, which played in two national tournaments, has not lost to a Pasco County team this season. The focus now is getting ready for the Class 3A, District 5 tournament, which starts Oct. 18.

2. Mitchell (18-0)

Up next: Tuesday vs. Hernando; Thursday vs. Palm Harbor University

Last spot: No. 2

Why they stayed put: The Mustangs cruised last week, sweeping River Ridge and Hudson to keep their perfect season intact. They can finish the regular season undefeated with wins against Hernando on Tuesday and Palm Harbor University on Thursday.

3. Land O’ Lakes (22-3)

Up next: Idle

Last spot: No. 3

Why they stayed put: The Gators joined Bishop McLaughlin and Mitchell as the only Pasco County teams that remain undefeated against county foes. Land O’ Lakes capped off the regular season by sweeping Tampa Catholic and Pasco last week to set the school record for wins in a season.

4. Sunlake (11-5)

Up next: Tuesday vs. Zephyrhills; Thursday at Wesley Chapel

Last spot: No. 4

Why they stayed put: After starting 2-4, the Seahawks have won nine of their last 10 matches, including victories over Anclote (3-0) and Wesley Chapel (3-2) last week. Sunlake will try to keep that momentum going with matches against Zephyrhills on Tuesday and Wesley Chapel on Thursday to close out the regular season.

5. Wesley Chapel (13-4)

Up next: Thursday vs. Sunlake

Last spot: No. 6

Why they moved up: The Wildcats lost in five sets to Sunlake last week, snapping their five-match win streak. They have a chance to exact revenge during Thursday’s rematch in the regular season finale.

6. Cypress Creek (13-4)

Up next: Tuesday at Wiregrass Ranch; Thursday at Pasco

Last spot: No. 7

Why they moved up: The Coyotes have six of their past seven matches, the lone loss coming against Wesley Chapel last week. Cypress Creek has a good test against Wiregrass Ranch on Tuesday.

7. Wiregrass Ranch (7-7)

Up next: Monday vs. Sickles; Tuesday vs. Cypress Creek; Thursday at Anclote

Last spot: Unranked

Why they moved in: The Bulls gained some confidence in their lone match last week, beating Fivay 3-1. Wiregrass Ranch will stay busy in the final week of the regular season with matches against Sickles on Monday, Cypress Creek on Tuesday and Anclote on Thursday.

On the bubble: Fivay (8-16), Anclote (11-16)
