Boys basketball player of the week — Dec. 18-23

G Trevor Parks, Sr., Calvary Christian

After averaging double figures in scoring last season, Trevor Parks has become even better at racking up the points as a senior.

He is second on the team in scoring with an average of 16.5 points per game. Much of Parks’ production comes from long range as the Warriors’ 3-point specialist. Parks has made 36 3-pointers so far this season, accounting for exactly half of the team’s total.

Two weeks ago, he scored 21 points – on seven 3-pointers – to lead Calvary Christian over Central Pointe Christian, which was ranked among the top 15 in the state in its classification at the time by MaxPreps.

Fans were impressed. Parks received 40 percent of the votes (246) in the boys basketball player of the week poll to beat out Gibbs’ Marcus Calvin, who had 37 percent (224 votes).
