G Lucy Morey, So., Academy of the Holy Names

Last season, Lucy Morey had a more limited role on varsity, averaging 3.3 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. 

The sophomore has become more involved in the offense this season, so much she is now among the team’s top scorers. 

Three weeks ago, Morey had 16 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals in an important win over Tampa Prep. 

Fans took notice. Morey had 52 percent of the votes (3,017) in the girls basketball player of the week poll to beat out Largo’s Jillian York, who had 43 percent (2,495).
