Alonso’s Trent Scott wins Alston “Mac” McGahagin award

Alonso’s Trent Scott, who led the Ravens to a Western Conference and Class 7A, District 6 title this past season, was named the winner of the Alston “Mac” McGahagin award, presented annually to the top public school boys basketball senior in Hillsborough County. 

Scott averaged 15.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.7 steals per game while guiding Alonso to a 22-7 record and a berth in the 7A region quarterfinals. He scored 1,021 points in his high school career. 

Scott also excels in the classroom. He currently has a 4.98 weighted grade point average and 3.81 unweighted. 

This is the second straight year Alonso had a player win the award. Last season, Tripp Burdgess took home top honors last season.
