Hillsborough County softball player of the week – March 21-26

Here are the nominees for the Hillsborough County softball player of the week. Voting lasts until 9 a.m. Friday. 

P/OF Maria Brooks, Jr., Newsome: Drew the winning run in against Academy of the Holy Names after getting by a pitch in the 14th inning and won two games on the mound, including a one-hit shutout, seven strikeout performance against Osceola. 

P Natalie Cable, Fr., Bloomingdale: Recorded a combined 10 hits and six RBIs in five games at the plate and allowed just one earned run and had 72 strikeouts in 32 ⅔ innings on the mound. 

OF/UTIL Emma Chisholm, Jr., Durant: Ended up going a combined 9-for-16 with three doubles and seven RBIs in four games. 

C/INF Madi Frey, Sr., Steinbrenner: Went a combined 12-for-18 with four doubles, three triples and 11 RBIs in five games and led the Warriors to the title at the Lady Canes’ Invitational. 

INF Megan Loughren,Jr., Gaither: Finished a combined 5-for-7 with two triples, a double and two RBIs in wins over Sumner and Brandon. 

OF Shelby Prevatte, So., Sickles: Ended up going a combined 4-for-9 with two doubles and three RBIs in four games to earn all-tournament recognition at the Leopard Slam.
