Outlook
The Buccaneers are after their first state title since 1976. In Tuesday’s semifinals, Berkeley Prep beat The Villages 2-0. JT Quinn, a Mississippi commit who will likely be selected within the first three rounds of the MLB amateur draft, threw a four-hit shutout with five strikeouts. Anthony Castillo went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. And Gunnett Carlson and Owen McElfatrick each drove in a run. The Buccaneers, ranked second in the class and sixth nationally by MaxPreps, have now won four straight and seven of their last eight games. North Broward Prep, ranked sixth in the class, is the defending 4A state champion that moved down in classification this year. The Eagles’ top player is Yoel Tejeda, a Florida commit who set the school record for career RBIs.
