Tampa Catholic’s Lewis Carter commits to Oklahoma

Tampa Catholic linebacker Lewis Carter committed to Oklahoma, becoming the first area recruit to pledge his allegiance to first-year Sooners coach Brent Venables.

Carter, a four-star recruit, is ranked among the top 12 linebackers in the nation and among the top 40 players overall in the state in the 2023 class by most major recruiting services.

He picked the Sooners over Auburn and Central Florida.

Carter is the second Crusader to make his college decision this offseason, joining offensive/defensive lineman Chris Luna, who is going to Army.

Last season, Carter did a little bit of everything, rushing for 394 yards and five touchdowns on offense and recording 66 tackles, two sacks and an interception on defense.
