Football: Zyon Nobles transfers to Wharton

Wharton already had a formidable defense with lineman Booker Pickett Jr., linebacker Cameron Campbell and defensive back Dijon Johnson leading the way.

On Friday, that unit became even more ferocious.

Zyon Nobles, who left Zephyrhills Christian earlier this summer, announced via social media that he was joining the Wildcats.

The addition of Nobles gives Wharton two of the most dynamic rushers in the state. After all, Nobles and Pickett Jr. combined for 45 ½ sacks last season.

It was just the latest in a series of high-profile transfers the Wildcats have picked up in the offseason. Three quarterbacks Noah Bryant (Chamberlain), Jackson Jensen (Carrollwood Day) and Luke Sather (Tampa Catholic) all transferred from other schools and are competing for the starting job.

Last month, Stacy Gage, rated the nation’s No. 2 running back in the 2024 class, announced that he was leaving IMG to play for Wharton.
