Outlook

Allen Suber II, a former standout at Tampa Catholic and Bethune Cookman, was hired in the offseason to replace Trey Burdick, who lasted three seasons. Suber II spent time in the NFL, including with the Buccaneers. He also was associate head coach at Bethune Cookman. The focus throughout Suber II’s debut season will be putting the pieces in place, especially after an offseason with a lot of movement. Three players – quarterback Kyle Horvath, running back Ryan Pryce and kicker Vasilios Fotopoulos – transferred in from Land O’ Lakes. Horvath, who threw for 2,067 yards and 28 touchdowns with the Gators last season, has a dependable target in Tyler Smith (team-leading 390 yards and four touchdowns a year ago). The running game features the 1-2 punch of Price and Jackson Lipski. The anchor in the trenches is Jaxson Philipenko, who can play on both sides of the ball.
