Outlook

Max Smith, an assistant with the program, was promoted in the offseason to take over the program. He replaces Kenny Crawford, who stepped down from coaching after 13 seasons. The biggest change Smith made is on offense. He scrapped the wing-T, a staple of the Patriots under Crawford, in favor of the spread. That doesn’t mean Smith will deviate from the run game, especially with 1,000 yard rusher Isaiah Hampton returning. Pinellas Park will try to strike some balance with a passing game led by quarterback Trey Deese and receiver Eric Triplett. The defense will be the strength of the team. The leaders are lineman Javon Williams (62 tackles, six sacks), linebacker Jarek Fields (51 tackles, four sacks) and defensive back Kamrin Canterbury (35 tackles, two interceptions).
