Parity in Pinellas

After two weeks, there are just three teams in Pinellas County – Northside Christian, Osceola and Indian Rocks Christian – that are currently 2-0. Two others – Calvary Christian and Largo – are 1-0 (Canterbury and Shorecrest are 1-0 in eight-man football).

New coaches get their first wins

A pair of first-year coaches – Pinellas Park’s Max Smith and Tarpon Springs’ Jeremy Frioud – got their first wins with their programs this past weekend.

Both victories had some interesting angles.

Smith’s Patriots cruised to a 27-0 victory over Boca Ciega, the school Smith left in 2020 after seven seasons as coach.

Frioud, a former standout with the Spongers, led his alma mater to a 21-14 victory over Seminole. The win came against first-year Warhawks coach Auggie Sanchez, who was going to be Frioud’s defensive coordinator before taking the job at Seminole.
