District games in football start tonight. A lot has changed since last season. There are now two divisions in the state, Metro and Suburban. The divisions are based on population sizes of counties. The classes for each division are determined by enrollment figures. Districts are included in each division. In classes 2A-4A of each division, the district champion automatically qualifies for the playoffs and the other four at-large spots in each region are determined by power rankings. In 1A of both divisions, the district champion automatically qualifies for the postseason and the other two at-large spots are determined by power rankings.
