Outlook

After finishing 10-13 last season, the Crusaders have plenty that they can turn things around.

That enthusiasm is due in large part to the return of forward Lena Bailey and guards Renita Harris and Kyaija Stewart.

Bailey, a multisport athlete who has already signed to play soccer at Florida, averaged 12.8 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. Harris (13.6 points, 6.8 rebounds per game) and Stewart (9.4 points, 7.4 rebounds per game) also are steady playmakers.

Another key addition is the varsity arrival of freshman Ashley Knox, whose three older brothers (Kevin, Kobe and Karter) are either playing basketball in the NBA, college or high school.

“With the discipline and system we have, we’re hoping to make it to regionals,” Tampa Catholic coach Sheena Kee said. “But we are taking it one game at a time. Myself and my staff put in a lot of time, energy and effort to get the most out of the girls we can. It’s brick by brick.”
