Outlook

The Eagles, who have won 11 straight games, are in the region final for the first time since 2016.

They have scored 30 or more points in each of those wins — 10 of those by double digits.

Last week, East Lake kept its streak going by beating Plant 38-14. Tied at 14 at the half, the Eagles scored 24 unanswered to pull away.

Luke Yoder, the FACA District 14 player of the year, ran for 233 yards and three touchdowns against the Panthers, including a 97-yard run for a score. Yoder now has 1,621 yards and 25 touchdowns on the season.

As a team, East Lake has two 1,000-yard rushers (Caleb Coburn is the other) and has rushed for more 3,000 yards, an average of 9.4 yards per carry.

After losing three of four games to close the regular season, the Knights turned it around in the playoffs, beating Durant 42-27 in the region quarterfinals and rival West Orange 29-28 in overtime. The Knights exacted revenge for a regular season loss with a successful two-point conversion in overtime.
