What to watch

Steinbrenner (2-0) at Calvary Christian (0-1), 6

The defending Class 3A state champion Warriors try to avoid an 0-2 start against the undefeated Warriors. It also is a matchup between two of the state’s top power hitters – Calvary Christian’s Morgen Talley and Steinbrenner’s Lily Holtje. 

Sumner (3-0) at Wharton (1-0), 7

This has the potential to be a slugfest. The Stingrays are averaging more than 13 runs per game during their perfect start. The host Wildcats, meanwhile, opened the season with a 16-3 win over Jefferson. 

Crystal River (3-0) at Hernando (2-0), 7

The Leopards were hardly tested last week, beating Central and Springstead by a combined 31-0. The Pirates, who started 2-5 last season, are off to a much better start and could present more of a challenge.
