The boys lacrosse district tournaments wrapped up this past week. Now, it is time for the playoffs starting with the region quarterfinals for 2A on Wednesday and 1A on Saturday. Here is a recap of the Tampa Bay area teams that won district titles.

Class 2A, District 9

Champion: Plant

After starting the season 5-5 playing a brutally tough schedule, the Panthers have turned things on at the right time.

They finished last week on a seven-game win streak, culminating with a 17-4 victory over Newsome in the district final.

Jack Boyer and Eastin Willett each had four goals and Rogan Kane recorded 13 ground balls to lead Plant against the Wolves.

Class 2A, District 10

Champion: Steinbrenner

The Warriors, ranked No. 7 in the class by MaxPreps, continued to dominate by beating East Lake 16-3 in the semifinals and Mitchell 13-9 in the final to take home the title.

That extended Steinbrenner’s win streak to 14 games, tops among area teams.

Ahead 4-3 at the half, the Warriors pulled away in the championship game by outscoring the Mustangs 6-4 in the third quarter.

Avery Kamuf scored six goals, Jacob Feitner recorded five ground balls and Max Johnson made 10 saves against Mitchell.

The Ravens got hot at the right time. They extended their win streak to six games with victories over Lakewood Ranch (11-8) in the semifinals and Palm Harbor University (14-7) in the final.

Five of Alonso’s last six wins have been by seven or more goals.

Class 1A, District 9

Champion: Jesuit

The Tigers, ranked No. 7 in the class by MaxPreps, had lost three games by a combined eight goals to elite programs in the state – and nation.

Those tough contests helped Jesuit earn the top seed in the district and breeze through the tournament with wins over Wesley Chapel (22-3) in the semifinals and Cypress Creek (21-3) in the final.

Against the Coyotes, Jesuit took control early, building a 11-2 lead after the first quarter. The Tigers had six players who scored two or more goals in the title game, led by Nathan Martino with five.

Class 1A, District 11

Champion: Calvary Christian

The Warriors continued their impressive run with wins over Northside Christian (19-4) in the semifinals and Osceola (8-6) in the final.

Their only loss of the season came last month against Ocala Forest. Since then, Calvary Christian has won 11 straight games.

Against Osceola, Grant Kurleman had three goals and Ryan Holthaus and Giovanni Lubrano each added two to lead Calvary Christian.
