Here are the nominees for the Hillsborough County boys basketball player of the year in Classes 7A-5A. Voting lasts until 9 a.m. Thursday.
King Asad, Sr., Blake: Recorded 12.6 points and 4.7 rebounds to help the Yellow Jackets reach the 5A region quarterfinals.
Nate Boakye, Jr., Jesuit: Ended up averaging 11.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 4.2 steals per game for the Class 5A region finalist Tigers.
Karmello Branch, Sr., Wharton: Averaged 16.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3 assists in helping the Wildcats reach the Class 6A state semifinals.
Chandler Davis, Sr., Wharton: Finished with an average of 16.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists for the Class 6A state semifinalist Wildcats.
Daniel Delgardo III, Jr., Leto: Ended up averaging 22.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.1 steals and 2.7 assists in helping the Falcons earn the top seed in its region.
Derek Delgardo, Jr., Leto: Averaged 18.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game for the Class 6A region quarterfinalist Falcons.
Josiah Harding, Sr., Sumner: Recorded 19.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game for the Stingrays this season.
Damian Jones, Sr., Plant City: Averaged 15.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3 assists per game to help the Raiders reach the Class 7A region quarterfinals.
Joshua Lewis, So., Blake: Finished with an average of 13.9 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game in helping the Yellow Jackets reach the Class 5A region quarterfinals.
Woody Machado, Sr., Alonso: Averaged 14.6 points, 7 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game in helping the Ravens reach the Class 7A region semifinals.
Christopher Moliere, Jr., Jesuit: Ended up averaging 15.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists for the Class 5A region finalist Tigers.
Jonathan Moore, Sr., Newsome: The Federal Division player of the year led the Wolves to the Class 7A region final.
Kyle O’Hare, Sr., Sickles: Averaged 19.2 points and 10.7 rebounds for the Gryphons this season.
Carlton Young, Sr., Newsome: All-conference selection helped the Wolves advance to the Class 7A region final.
John Ziegler, Sr., King: The school’s all-time leading scorer finished with an average of 17.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.8 steals and 2.3 assists in helping the Lions reach the 5A region quarterfinals.
