Wilken continues to shine in the minors

Former Bloomingdale standout Brock Wilken, who helped Wake Forest reach the semifinals of the World Series, has played well since being drafted in the first round by the Milwaukee Brewers (18th overall) last month.

After a strong performance in the Arizona Complex League, Wilken was promoted to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, the Brewers’ High Single-A affiliate.

On Friday, Wilken had his first hit in Single-A, a run-scoring single.

Dragons aim for running back reinforcements

The biggest task for Jefferson in the offseason was finding a replacement for Nashaun Pryor.

That was a difficult job.

After all, Pryor rushed for 1,601 yards and 14 touchdowns last season.

The Dragons have decided to go about it with a group effort.

Among those sharing the workload is Ronnell Dubose. That diverse backfield will try to help Jefferson bounce back from 2-8 record that included eight straight losses to close out last season.

Fan votes for top team continue in each county

The fan votes, which started last month, continue with the semifinals in HernandoPasco and Pinellas and the quarterfinals in Hillsborough.
