Jesuit takes home 5A All-Sports Award

Jesuit has a well-established reputation as a jock juggernaut.

This past school year was no different.

The Tigers made deep runs in just about every sport. For example, the baseball, lacrosse, football and soccer teams all made at least the state semifinals. The swim team was a state runnerup. The basketball team made the region final.

So many titles. So many points.

In fact, Jesuit racked up enough points to win the 5A boys title in the Florida High School Athletics Association’s Floyd E. Lay Sunshine Cup All Sports Awards.

The Tigers’ 121 points were enough to rank fourth overall in the class (boys and girls sports) despite being an all-boys school. It also was tops among all Tampa Bay area schools in Hernando, Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas counties.

In 3A, Calvary Christian finished second overall with 97 points, thanks in large part to its baseball and softball teams each winning state titles.
