Football: Pinellas County Defensive Player of the Week — Week 5, Sept. 22, 2023

Here are the nominees for the Pinellas County defensive player of the week. Voting lasts until 9 a.m. Friday. 

Manasseh Alex, Jr., Northeast: Recorded 15 tackles and had a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in a win over Boca Ciega. 

Noel Brown, Jr., Clearwater: Ended up with nine tackles and three sacks in a loss to Largo. 

Wayne Cunningham, So., Pinellas Park: Finished with seven tackles, a blocked punt and scored on a fumble recovery in a win over Gibbs. 

DJ Gibson, Jr., Calvary Christian: Recorded seven tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in a win over Wildwood. 

Adarius Hayes, Sr., Largo: Had 11 tackles and an interception in a win over Clearwater. 

Parker Hursh, So., Seminole: Finished with five tackles, an interception and a forced fumble in a win over Hollins. 

Dwayne Pouncy Jr., So., Clearwater Central Catholic: Recorded 10 tackles and forced a fumble in a win over Sebring. 

Clifton Slone, Jr., St. Petersburg: Ended up with eight tackles and a fumble recovery in a win over Dunedin. 

Carson Weakley, Sr., East Lake: Finished with 12 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble in a win over Tarpon Springs. 

Jeremy Willoughby, Sr., Lakewood: Returned a fumble 78 yards for a touchdown in a win over Miami Edison.
