No. 3 Jacksonville Trinity Christian (9-3) at No. 2 Clearwater Central Catholic (12-0), 7:30

The host Marauders can make history. With a win, CCC will become the first Pinellas County football program to ever make three state championship game appearances and join Dunedin as only the second county team to play in consecutive finals. Last week, Clearwater Central Catholic kept its perfect season intact by outlasting Carrollwood Day in a 45-41 thriller in the region finals. Jershaun Newton, one of the state’s premier dual-threat athletes, is on the verge of another impressive feat. The Marauders junior quarterback needs 81 more rushing yards to have 1,000 through the air and on the ground this season. A year ago, he threw for more than 2,200 and ran for more than 1,300. After starting 2-2, the Conquerors have won seven of their last eight games, including five straight. Trinity Christian’s defense has kept games close, allowing no more than 27 points in any game this season.
