Boys basketball: Tampa Bay area report — Jan. 29, 2024

Take a look back at the Pinellas Private School Conference tournament, then look ahead to a game to watch tonight, as well as the county schedules to kick off the final week of the regular season.

Lakeside Christian wins PPSC title

The Lions beat two-time defending champion Calvary Christian 64-54 to win the Pinellas Private School Conference title for the first time.

Nijuan Harris, an eighth-grader, finished with 21 points, six blocked shots, five rebounds and five steals to lead Lakeside Christian. Jabari Adams, a junior, added 18 points and three rebounds.

The Lions have won five straight games heading into tonight’s matchup against Osceola.

What to watch tonight

Springstead (13-8) at Clearwater (9-12), 7:45

The Eagles are used to playing in close contests. Three of their last five games have each been decided by four points. The host Tornadoes are just looking for some consistency after going 2-6 in their last eight games.

Plant City (18-3) at Tampa Bay Tech (12-10), 8

This is a rematch from a game the Raiders won 57-47 in December. Plant City’s only loss against a Tampa Bay area opponent came against Durant earlier this month. The host Titans are coming off a win against Bradenton Manatee that snapped a two-game losing streak.
