TBBCA All-Star Game Set For Tonight

The Tampa Bay Basketball Coaches Association (TBBCA) East-West All-Star Games will be held tonight at Carrollwood Day. The girls game starts at 6 p.m., followed by the boys game (around 7:30). Admission is $7; cash at the door.

Plant’s Mahon receives prestigious award

Longtime Plant coach Carrie Mahon received the John Wooden Legacy Award from the National Basketball Coaching Association during the girls basketball state tournament in Lakeland. 

The criteria for the nominees were rooted in the ideals of education, longevity, character, service and excellence. 

Mahon was named the Class 7A coach of the year in 2020 after leading the Panthers to a state title.

Alumni update

Air Force’s Milahnie Perry named first team in Mountain West

Former Seffner Christian standout Milahnie Perry became just the third player ever from Air Force to be named a first-team, all-Mountain West Conference selection.   

This season, the sophomore had the third-highest scoring average in the conference at 18.2 points per game.
