Outlook

The Warriors can make history this week by becoming the first area softball program to win three straight titles. The three titles also would put them in a tie with Palm Harbor University for the second-most in the area, two behind Canterbury’s five championships. Calvary Christian has been dominant the second half of the season, winning 13 straight games, including the last six via shutout, entering today’s semifinal game. In the region final, the Warriors beat Academy of the Holy Names 5-0. Morgen Talley threw a five-hit shutout with three strikeouts on the mound and went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs at the plate. Julia Tamulski was 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, Payton Cushman ended up going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Irianis Garcia finished 3-for-4 with a triple. They also have momentum with 10 straight wins. Their success is due in large part to an offense that has plenty of power, led by Cali Hartung and Jazmine Ramos-Merced, who have combined for 19 home runs this season.
