FNF Campus Tour Preview: Nature Coast at Hernando

Nature Coast (4-0) at Hernando (2-1), 7:30

Three things to know

De-fense! De-fense!

If you like close, low-scoring games, this is the rivalry for you. Both teams have experienced defenses that have clamped down on opponents so far this season. The visiting Sharks have allowed just 33 points all season — 23 coming in last week’s win over Cypress Creek. After a 43-2 loss to Zephyrhills in the season opener, the host Leopards have posted two straight shutouts to get back on track.

Linebacker spotlight

Two of the best linebackers in the area — Nature Coast’s Brady Nowlan and Hernando’s Sam Sternberger — will lead their teams in Friday’s matchup. Both are averaging at least nine tackles per game (Nowlan at 10 and Sternberger at 9.3). They will be responsible for stuffing the strong rushing attacks for each team. The Sharks’ ground game is headlined by Christian Cromer, who is averaging 157 yards per game. The Leopards’ top back is Jordan Williams, who is averaging 83 yards per game.
