QB Carson Mohler, Sr., Wharton

The Plant City transfer took over as the starting quarterback and gave Wharton’s offense some balance with an efficient passing game. 

Entering the 7A region final, Carson Mohler had thrown for 947 yards, 10 touchdowns and just five interceptions. 

In the semifinals, Mohler made each of four completions count. He threw for 106 yards and a touchdown. The big plays helped the Wildcats cruise to a 36-0 victory over Lehigh. 

Fans took notice. Mohler received 43 percent of the votes (524) in the football player of the week poll to beat out Berkeley Prep’s Drew Canody, who had 35 percent (424 votes).
