Baseball: Hillsborough County pitcher of the week — May 8-15

Here are the nominees for the Hillsborough County pitcher of the week. Voting lasts until 9 a.m. Monday. 

Bransen Angel, Sr., Tampa Catholic: Threw a combined 5 ⅓ scoreless innings, allowing four hits while striking out four in wins over Fort Meade and Berkeley Prep in the Class 3A region quarterfinals and semifinals. 

Michael Fernandez, Jr., Gaither: Hurled a one-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts in a win over Riverdale in the Class 6A region semifinals. 

Caden McDonald, Sr., Sickles: Threw a three-hit shutout with 17 strikeouts in a win over Plant City in the Class 6A region quarterfinals. 

Blaine Rowland, Sr., Durant: Went eight innings, allowing one earned run on six hits while striking out 11 in a win over Alonso in the Class 7A region quarterfinals that lasted 10 innings. 

Robert Satin, Sr., Plant: Led the Panthers by throwing a perfect game with nine strikeouts in a win over Lakewood Ranch in the Class 7A region semifinals. 

John Valle Vera, Sr., Jefferson: Threw a combined seven innings, allowing one unearned run on one hit while striking out eight in wins over Robinson and Lakeland McKeel Academy in the Class 4A region quarterfinals and semifinals. 

Derek Westfall, Sr., Jesuit: Went 2 ⅓ perfect innings with three strikeouts in a win over Naples in the Class 5A region semifinals.
