Alonso named top team in the nation

Florida has long been known as the hub for girls flag football. So when a team goes undefeated and wins a title in the state’s highest classification, that feat gets national recognition.

Take Alonso.

The Ravens were dominant this past season, outscoring foes by a combined 789-98 en route to a perfect record (23-0) and the 2A state title.

Their resume left no doubt about their status as the top overall team in Florida.

Now, Alonso is considered the nation’s best, too, at least according to MaxPreps.

The Ravens finished the season ranked No. 1 nationally by high school site. Robinson, which won the Class 1A state title, was No. 2. Two other Hillsborough County programs, Lennard and Newsome, were each in the top 10.
