Six area basketball standouts named as McDonald’s All-American nominees — Jan. 9, 2023

Six Tampa Bay area basketball players – four girls, two boys – were nominated to play in the McDonald’s All-American boys and girls games April 2 in Houston. 

Three girls – Paige Atwater, Linsey Orr and Gabrielle Scott – are from Weeki Wachee. The other girls selection is Armwood’s Na’Chauncia Welch. 

The boys selections are former Tampa Catholic standout Karter Knox and Tampa SLAM’s Ramone Seals. Knox, the younger brother of USF’s Kobe Knox and the Detroit Pistons’ Kevin Knox II, is currently playing for Overtime Elite in Atlanta.  

The final rosters of 24 boys and 24 girls will be announced Jan. 24 on ESPN’s NBA Today.
