Tampa Catholic’s TJ Moore named MVP of the All-American Bowl

TJ Moore made a name for himself as a dynamic receiver at Tampa Catholic. 

The Clemson signee continued to show his playmaking abilities at the All-American Bowl in San Antonio this past week, finishing with 11 catches for 180 yards and two touchdowns to earn MVP honors. 

One of his catches was a highlight-worthy, one-handed grab that got plenty of praise on social media. 

Moore, a four-star recruit, had consecutive 1,000-yard seasons with the Crusaders as a junior and senior. He also had a combined 30 touchdown receptions the past two years. 

Flag Football finals coming to Raymond James Stadium

The Florida High School Athletic Association has a tentative agreement to hold the state flag football finals at Raymond James Stadium, according to Florida HS Football’s Josh Wilson. 

The flag football season already kickoff at the stadium with an event that includes guest speakers, as well as a tour of the Buccaneer locker rooms. It is held the same weekend as a massive preseason tournament that features teams from all over the state.

Booker Pickett, Adarius Hayes, Jason Zandamela play in UA All-America Game

Wharton’s Booker Pickett Jr., Largo’s Adarius Hayes and Clearwater Academy’s Jason Zandamela all played in the Under Armour All-America Game this past week in Orlando. 

Pickett Jr., and Hayes, who will both be teammates at Miami this fall, were opponents for the game. Pickett Jr. played for Team Ice. Hayes played with Zandamela, a Southern California signee, on Team Fire. 

Known as a fierce pass rusher, Pickett Jr. displayed his ability to get after the quarterback by recording two sacks in the game. He finished his high school career at Wharton with 76 sacks.

Volleyball

Taylor Parks, Bailey Higgins play in UA Next All-America Game

Calvary Christian’s Taylor Parks and Berkeley Prep’s Bailey Higgins capped off their high school careers by playing in the Under Armour All-America Volleyball Game in Orlando this past week.

The two were among 24 of the top players in the nation selected to participate in the week-long event that culminated with the televised all-star game on ESPNU. 

Parks, a Florida signee and early enrollee, had a stellar career with the Warriors. She was named the Class 3A player of the year by the Florida Dairy Farmers in 2021 after leading Calvary Christian to its only state title. 

This year, Parks was a first-team selection to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America list and was named MVP of the Florida Athletic Coaches Association all-star match. 

Higgins, a Florida State signee, played indoor volleyball with the Buccaneers as a sophomore and junior. She gained even more notoriety in beach volleyball, where she led Berkeley Prep to a 16-2 record and a playoff berth this past season. She will play beach volleyball with the Seminoles.
